How does fertilization occur?

Physiologically, after a sperm cell enters the egg cell, oocyte activation is required for fertilization to occur. Normally, this stage occurs physiologically, following the fusion of the sperm and oocyte membranes, oocyte activation occurs due to some factors released from the sperm head. If this activation does not occur, fertilization failure occurs.

How is Piezoelectricity Made?

PIEZOELECTRIC is applied to cases with fertilization failure. In these patients, piezoelectricity is applied to the eggs 30 minutes after the microinjection process and fertilization is achieved by activating the eggs. In the process, the eggs are placed in a specially prepared buffer solution between two parallel electrodes in glass containers called 'micro plates' and a certain level of current is given to the cells with the Electro Cell Manipulator device. The electric current helps the sperm cell, activates the egg and facilitates fertilization. In addition, this stimulation not only helps fertilization, but also encourages cell division and is necessary for embryo formation.

Who can use piezoelectricity?

It is applied to patients who have not achieved fertilization at all or have low fertilization rates in previous IVF attempts.

What does the Scientific Evidence say?

In a well-received study, it was shown that the fertilization rate increased (71.6% vs 65.6%), the egg degeneration rate decreased (6.3% vs 12.1%) and the embryo quality (33.3% vs 27.5%) increased (Fertil Steril.2024)

Technology and scientific developments provide the opportunity to perform treatments under more ideal conditions every day. In vitro fertilization applications with the piezoelectric method have also started a new era in in vitro fertilization with fertilization problems.
